WINE LUNCH
Wednesday 25th June 2008

When Brett asked me to think about the organisation of a wine lunch at The Ledbury, I immediately thought about representing a French region that I am deeply attached to; The Rhône Valley.
From North to South, from cooler to warmer climates and from steeply sloped vineyards to more continental landscapes, this region is very divers and filled with great areas. To top it off, there are plenty of young, highly skilled farmers looking for great finesse in their wines as well as some really established estates which are able to compete with the best burgundies in terms of elegance and longevity. It is really worth a trip to The Rhône Valley to visit these vineyards.
Great whites? Yes. Fantastic reds? Absolutely…

This region is capable of the best in both colours. Who hasn’t been astonished by the quality of (to give a famous example) an hermitage white from Jean-Louis Chave or a great, deep Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Laurent Charvin, a young fellow trying hard to get the best expression of the vineyards.

With the very kind collaboration of Nick Brookes from Vine Trail, and with John Livingstone-Learmonth, famous wine writer as a special guest, I want to introduce you to the Region by way of a very special lunch being held on Wednesday 25th of June 2008 at The Ledbury. (See details below).
